This month at the Academy

March 2017

This years Young Musician of the year took place on Wednesday 21st March, with many Pupils taking part. There was a huge variation in the amount of different instruments that were being played, and also a few singers. Congratulations to this years winners, Lois Patterson S3, and Jamie Reilly S4

During Fairtrade Fortnight, Some of the S1 Pupils got to help sell some of the goods that were available. Money raised will be announced in due course

S2 pupils were given the opportunity to have a look at this years choices for the Grampian book awards, and will hopefully get to go in May and see who the winner was!

Global Rock 2017

 

The Team from Global Rock went out to Aberdeen on Saturday 25th and competed against a bunch of other schools in the hope to qualify. They may not have been able to move onto the next round, they left with plenty of awards that have left the school very proud in what they have achieved. These include:

  • The Choices for Life Award of Excellence for Concept
  • The NHS Grampian Award of Excellence for Entertainment
  • The Razzamataz Theatre Schools Award of Excellence for Performance Skill

The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes in the months running up to the performance was also recognised with Turriff being the only school to be awarded:

  • The Rock Challenge Award for School Community Support
  • The Rock Challenge Award for Cultural and Educational Achievement
  • The Rock Challenge Award for Achievement in Drug Awareness
