IMPORTANT ICT SURVEY
We are requiring ALL pupils and parents to complete our ICT Appropriate use survey. There are a number of reasons for doing this;
• As we found recently, during the period of school closure, ICT is an essential tool to keep learning, teaching and communication moving forward. All parties using these ICT facilities need to be aware of their own roles and responsibilities in keeping these online education platforms a safe and pleasant environment.
• We now have permission from Education Scotland and Aberdeenshire Council to use Video Conferencing between teachers and pupils. We need pupils and parents to be aware of and agreeable to, the rules and procedures in order to allow students to use the video conferencing tools in Google Classrooms and Teams. Should we need to revert to online learning at any point in the future this is likely to be a valuable tool to enhance the pupils’ learning experiences.
• The final section of the survey asks about access to digital devices. The reason for this section is two-fold. Firstly, we would like to be able to use more technology within school and this may mean that pupils could potentially bring their own devices into school and be able to link to the school WiFi. Secondly, we appreciate that not all pupils have the same access to their own devices, we need to be aware of this and would aim to make the learning experiences available to pupils equitable to ALL pupils.
The survey will take approximately ten to fifteen minutes to complete and is split into two parts. The first sections need to be completed by the pupil and the last few sections are for parent/carer to complete.
Every student will be able to access this survey via a link in their PSE Team

Head Teacher’s Welcome

Welcome to the Turriff Academy website. We are constantly working on revising and improving our website and keeping it up to date with our successes and achievements as well as informing pupils, parents and the wider community about key dates and events.

Turriff Academy is a community which fosters Respect, Ambition and Achievement for all. Turriff Academy has a long history of upholding the values of honesty, hard work, fairness and ambition and it has a strong reputation as a school where pupils feel safe, secure, supported and included.

I am impressed by how Respect, Ambition and Achievement are promoted throughout the school.

We aim to develop our young people to be the best they can be in everything they do to enable them to make a positive contribution to the local, national and global community. We aim to ensure that all our pupils secure and sustain a positive destination beyond school.

We have an exciting year ahead and are looking forward to working with our partners in the community in developing our young people.

I hope that you find the information provided useful and that it gives you a flavour of the ethos and aims of Turriff Academy.

Ms Lee Menzies

Head Teacher
